The Easiest Cake You’ll Ever Bake Your Dog

I had to put this up the second I had free time because it’s my most requested dish. Here I am making all of these specialty dinners and desserts for my husband but everyone (including the dogs) are like “DOG CAKE! MUST HAVE!”

Well now you can! This seriously couldn’t be any easier. Just be prepared to see a lot of drool after they know what treat they’re about to get and don’t call it cake or they’ll lose their minds anytime someone has a birthday 🙂

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2/3 cup canned pumpkin or sweet potato plain pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling
  • 2 teaspoons honey optional, in moderation

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease an 8 x 8-inch cake pan with vegetable oil or line with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine oat flour and baking soda.
  • In a separate bowl. add peanut butter, unsweetened applesauce, vegetable oil, canned pumpkin, and honey (if using). Beat on medium until well blended.
  • Add the dry the ingredients and mix until well combined, forming a thick batter using an electric mixer.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared 8 x 8-inch cake pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. (25 is perfect for me)
  • Allow the cake to cool completely before serving it to your dog.

Notes

Use the all natural peanut butter you have to stir. It is MUCH easier to cook with.
You can make your own oat flour by blending oats, but I prefer this giant four pound bag of  Anthony’s Organic Oat Flour. I want the best for my dogs and it’s worth the price. By clicking that link you are helping me as an Amazon affiliate. I would get a small portion of commission at no cost to you. Thank you!
